Laura started training in Shotokan Karate in 1980 with Sensei Robert Fusaro. She received all four of her Dan Ranks from Sensei Hidetaka Nishiyama. Laura competed at both the National and International level in the ITKF organization, she was the U.S. national Kata champion several times and competed on the Team Kata team from Minneapolis that were the U.S. national champions from 1997-2001. Laura has been teaching in the Minneapolis area since 1984, she has taught at Macalaster College, St. Thomas College, Carleton College and the University of Minnesota. Ultimately Laura and Luis Ocampo opened up the doors of Midwest Karate Association of St. Louis Park in July of 2002.
Laura has been teaching Hatha Yoga since 2005. She received her certification from the teacher training program at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis. She incorporated Yoga into the schedule, and soon the program became successful enough to become Midwest Karate and Yoga Association of St. Louis Park. Laura continues her education as a Yoga Instructor by attending trainings by inspiring teachers such as Dharma Mittra, Seane Corne and Rod Stryker.
In 2007 Laura Ocampo and Angie Charpentier collaborated to create Yoga-BellsTM. Yoga-BellsTM is a program combining the incredible strength benefits of Kettlebell training with the age-old practice of Hatha Yoga into one program designed to create optimal health. The Yoga-BellsTM

In 2010 Laura became a certified personal trainer. After three decades of teaching experience she discovered a passion for working in a one-on-one setting with people. Each person is a unique individual with their own equally unique set of personal goals, challenges and abilities. Laura offers a safe and supporting environment to help guide you on your journey whether it is to create greater strength, rehabilitate injuries, achieve weight loss or simply to improve the quality your of life.
